What Does Child Custody Modification Mean?

Mar 15, 2024

In this video, I explain what child custody modification is and some examples of when it is used. Child Custody modification basically is when you already have a custody order or parenting time agreement in place and one of the parties is seeking to change them.

Topics discussed:

- Before the court will modify your custody you're going to have to show some sort of substantial change in circumstances and the laws are going to be different depending on where you live.

- The court looks at the cumulative effect of all of the child's best interest factors so it's not just one factor and it's not one change that's going to make or break the case.

- If you don't show that there's a substantial and continuing change your case could get dismissed.
